Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford Cindy Crawford was born in a simple working family. Her father was an electrician and mother was a nurse in the hospital laboratory. They had no social engagements and went out very seldom. Her parents were not so educated. There were four children in the family, three girls, Chris, Daniel and Cindy, and a boy Geoff. He died at the age of 3 of leukemia. That was a great sorrow for her father as he dreamt of having a son, he thought girls were stupid. His daughters tried to ease those moments for the father. The eldest sister Chris went into sport section to play basketball, a favorite father's game. Cindy tried to study hard at school to prove girls can be smart as well. Cindy was the unprettiest of three sisters and her mother used to say that she had to devote her life to science. Cindy entered the best university in Illinois and studied for chemical engineer. She tried to help father earn money as he had bad health. She worked in the fields in summer picking up corn. Local journalist, who made a report about fields workers for his newspaper, took photo of Cindy and other girls. That was luck for her. Her photo appeared in the newspaper. Soon she took part in the competition under the patronage of designer John Casablanca and took the second place. That was a beginning of her career. Parents didn't prohibit her to be a model however they were upset she didn't choose a “real” profession. Real model work started when she met a famous photographer Skrebneski and he showed her photos in some model agencies, one of the agencies took interest in her. Skrebneski was trusted, he was considered to be a supplier of the future perspective models. That was the beginning of Cindy's torments. She had to keep a strict diet, do special gymnastics for flexibility and plasticity development. The most distressful were makeup lessons as she was forbidden to use makeup while she was growing up. She had to make a plastic operation and remove a mole spoiling her face. However she was afraid of blood and doctors and couldn't be bent on it. Now this mole is Cindy Crawford's “trade mark”. In the period from 1980 to 1990 Crawford was considered to be one of the most famous models of the world. She was a queen of catwalks; her pictures were on the covers of popular magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, ELLE, Cosmopolitan и Allure, Vogue, W, People. In different times Cindy Crawford became an image of the most respectable fashion houses including Gianne Versace и Escada. She worked for such companies as Revlon, Pepsi, Omega. She created fitness training program to help women keep fit. In 1991 Cindy Crawford married Richard Girr. Their marriage lasted 4 years and then broke up. They were too busy with their careers to build a family. In 1998 Cindy got married second time. It was her old friend and big love Randy Gerber. Now they have a happy family with two children, a boy, Presley, and a girl, Kaia. Cindy has a very active life. She successfully combines family, fitness and business.
